Product Overview

⚠ Confined Space & Hazardous Area Safe: The Dynaweld pneumatic jet fan is entirely air-powered — no electric motor, no spark risk. Suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, gas-contaminated spaces, and ATEX/hazardous area classified locations where electric fans cannot be used.

What It Is

The Dynaweld Pneumatic Jet Fan (also known as a Coppus blower or compressed air fan) is a four-bladed ventilation fan powered entirely by compressed air. Compressed air is ejected at high velocity from jets on the trailing edge of two of the four blades, driving the fan in rotation — like a jet engine — and moving large volumes of air for ventilation or extraction. No electrical connection of any kind is required.

Who Uses It

Specified by HSE officers, confined space supervisors, safety engineers, and industrial hygienists. Commonly procured by oil & gas operators, petrochemical contractors, shipyard teams, tank cleaning contractors, pipeline operators, and maintenance teams across the UAE, Saudi Arabia (Aramco, SABIC), Iraq (Basra), Qatar, Kuwait, Nigeria (NNPCL), Kenya, and South Africa.

Where It Is Used

Designed for ventilation of tanks, process vessels, manholes, confined spaces, ship holds, and enclosed work areas where hazardous fumes from welding, sandblasting, painting, or gas accumulation must be removed before or during entry. Also suitable for general ventilation in any location where compressed air is available but electrical power is unavailable or restricted.

Key Features & Benefits

Feature Benefit
No Electrical Power Required Operates entirely on compressed air — inherently safe for use in explosive atmospheres, ATEX zones, H₂S environments, and confined spaces where electric equipment is prohibited. Critical for oil & gas tank farms, petrochemical vessels, and ship holds across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Nigeria
Blower or Exhauster Operation Reversible air flow direction by rotating the fan unit — one tool serves both supply air (blower) and extract air (exhauster) applications, reducing equipment inventory
4-Blade Jet Design Two of four blades have air jet outlets; all four have airfoil cross sections — delivers higher airflow at lower RPM compared to conventional pneumatic fans, reducing noise and wear
T6 Aircraft Aluminium Casting Heat-treated to T6 specification — superior strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and durability in the hot, humid, and often corrosive environments found across the Gulf and equatorial Africa
Electro-Polished SS Fan Guards Corrosion-resistant stainless steel guards protect blades from damage and personnel from contact — maintains hygiene and structural integrity in marine, offshore, and chemical plant environments
Guide Vanes Integral guide vanes neutralise air spin and redirect airflow into a smooth axial direction — eliminating turbulence, increasing ventilation efficiency, and reducing system backpressure
Smooth Inlet Bell Machined inlet bell increases CFM throughput, improves aerodynamic efficiency, and reduces noise levels — important for prolonged confined space entry operations
Synthetic Lubricant Bearings Hi-tech synthetic lubricant packed bearings deliver longer service intervals — reduces maintenance frequency and downtime on field operations and remote site ventilation tasks
High-Pressure Air Seal Super-duty air seal rated for sustained high-pressure operation — prevents air leakage, maintains performance, and extends service life in continuous industrial use
Shaft with No Torque Transmission The shaft does not transmit power to the blade — air jets drive rotation directly. This eliminates shaft torque stress, a common failure point in conventional pneumatic fans

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pneumatic jet fan and how does it work?
A pneumatic jet fan (also referred to as a Coppus blower or compressed air ventilation fan) is powered entirely by compressed air — no electricity is needed at any point. Compressed air enters the fan housing and is ejected at high velocity from jets positioned on the trailing edge of two of the four fan blades. This drives the blades forward in rotation — in exactly the same way that a jet aircraft engine is propelled by high-velocity exhaust gas. The rotating blades then draw in and move large volumes of air through the housing for ventilation. The Dynaweld jet fan operates between 40 and 110 PSI and can function as either a blower (pushing air in) or an exhauster (extracting air out).
What is the difference between the DY20 and DY24 models?
The DY20 is a 20-inch fan with a 24.5-inch diameter housing, weighing 96 lbs (44 kg). At 100 PSI it delivers up to 10,420 CFM (17,704 m³/hr) of free flow airflow. The DY24 is a larger 24-inch fan with a 31.25-inch diameter housing, weighing 131 lbs (59 kg). At 100 PSI it delivers up to 16,136 CFM (27,415 m³/hr) — approximately 55% more airflow than the DY20. The DY24 uses a 1" NPT air inlet versus 3/4" NPT on the DY20. Both models share the same 1-inch minimum hose size and 150 PSI maximum pressure rating. The DY24 is preferred for larger vessels and spaces requiring rapid purge times.
Is the Dynaweld jet fan safe for use in explosive or gas-contaminated environments?
Yes. Because the Dynaweld jet fan contains no electrical components, motors, or wiring of any kind, it does not present an ignition risk in flammable or explosive atmospheres. This makes it inherently suitable for use in environments where electrical equipment is not permitted — including H₂S gas environments, hydrocarbon vapour-contaminated vessels, explosive dust atmospheres, and ATEX-classified zones. It is widely used across oil & gas, petrochemical, and marine industries in the Middle East and Africa for exactly this reason.
What compressed air supply pressure and hose size does the Dynaweld jet fan require?
The Dynaweld jet fan has a rated operating pressure range of 40 to 110 PSI (2.75 to 7.58 bar) and a maximum pressure rating of 150 PSI (10 bar). Both DY20 and DY24 models require a minimum 1-inch (25mm) air supply hose. The DY20 air inlet is 3/4" NPT and the DY24 inlet is 1" NPT. Higher operating pressure delivers significantly greater airflow — at 100 PSI the DY24 moves 27,415 m³/hr versus 13,769 m³/hr at 40 PSI.
